The president’s  editorial

Like every year since 1996, the “Fête du Pain” or “ Country Bread Festival” in Grand-Fayt, (in the north of France: 100 km south of Lille, between Maroilles and Avesnes-sur Helpe) is looking good.

Indeed, the various elements that have constituted its success, are now ready : the six movable brick-ovens that allow the making as well as the baking of bread in front of people, the working groups in which you can learn how to make your own bread, the traditional folk musics and dances, the local products market, the craft industry, the tasting of country honey, the gingerbread contest... nothing is left behind and this professionalism is the work of volunteers.

This is what is implemented in our local festivals: they are based on the local population.
Here is  people who do everything they can so as to highlight their land, their customs, their values. As a result, the people organizing the “Fête
du Pain” invite you to discover their village as well as their “bocage (hedged farmland).

In 2007, the festival theme is Scotland, hence many exhibitions, typical Scottish products and craft industry, and the presence of a bagpipe band.

It will be the eleventh time that this friendly atmosphere, which contributed to the family success of our festival, will settle on the village square of Grand-Fayt.

Patrick Antoniol.
